Dislocated Shoulder Story

L      It is that time of the year again, the NBA playoffs are back. And with the NBA playoffs coming back they bring a lot of drama with them, and this drama is starting early. This year one of the first big discrepancies of the playoffs is Kevin Love's dislocated shoulder. The play in question is the foul on Kevin Love from Kelly Olynyk. Olynyk was fighting for a lose ball with love when Olynyk seemingly dislocated Love's shoulder on purpose. Love was immediately taken to the locker room where he was told he had dislocated his shoulder.
This foul looked to me as to be intentional. Olynyk pulled Love's shoulder down with malicious intent and was looking to hurt Love. There should be serious punishments put in place for trying to injure another player, there is nothing worse than receiving an injury during a season keeping you from playing or hurting your chances of helping you team. Even if it is to help your team one should try and stay away from harming another player if at all possible. This just makes Olynyk look bad and people all around the league and around the world lose respect for this player.

Below is a video of the play, do you think Olynyk did this to Love's shoulder on purpose?

Last Man Standing

The article that I chose was a sad story indeed. It is the story about the last of a kind, the last male northern white rhino in the world. This animal, which is highly valued by poachers, is on 24/7 guard from armed soldiers. This 42 year old rhino named Sudan could be the last one to walk this earth if something is not done to save its species. Sudan is the last male, but there is other females, which they are trying to mate Sudan with, but there are some problems involved with this. Sudan has a very low sperm count and one of the females could conceive a baby, but does not have strong enough hind legs to support mounting from a mate.

This story is a tear jerker, and makes you think of how sad the rhino must be being the only male of his species. Even though he might not know that he is, he has never met anything or anyone like him in his entire life. This would be like a male human being with just himself and two girls and never meeting another male in his life. Also, I am sad that there is such a low chance of this species being saved because of the age and problems with the mating of these rhinos.

Blind Refs

You might've heard of the championship basketball game that happens a few days ago. The whole nation watched as Duke overcame Wisconsin to clinch their fifth national title as a school. With a final score of 68-63 it was a great game up until the end, but some believe that Wosconsin was robbed of the win by the referees. The game was close and the ball was, at first, seemingly last touched by a Wisconsin defender and that's what the referees called. This call was to close to tell so it was reviewed by the referees. Now seeing it in slow motion it was obvious that the refs were wrong and Justise Winslow, a Duke player, was the last to touch the ball, but, as obvious as it was, the refs could not tell and thus sticking to their original call. This call immediatly set most people off on how the officiating was so poor.

The play in question: https://vine.co/v/eB7rOrYw5B0

The refs blowing a game because of a call that they could review and still got wrong has been a problem that has many people upset.  I think that reviews on plays should not be allowed in the game, reviews make the game less about a persons ability and more about what the cameras catch. The refs blowing this call would not have been as big of deal if there was no reviews, because from a first look it looked as if this call was the right call. I would rather refs miss a call here and there without reviews than have reviews and still not make the most of it.
